There were a lot of really great books I read in 2025. Over the next few weeks we'll be counting down some of my favorite reads from last year. I had a great reading year and read 428 books across all different age groups and genres. I'm continually impressed, year after year, with the amount of quality literature that is being published. I know I usually only share five books but this year there were so many great books I read that I couldn't cut it off at just five. Here are some of favorite Middle Grade Standalone books read in 2025 (in no particular order):

The Shindig is Coming! by Charise Mericle Harper
